Who Moved My Cheese? is a great motivational book with a powerful message. This book envisions a new way of how we can live our lives.

In the book, four characters―two mice and two humans―live in a maze with cheese. Both groups are content with what they have and do nothing but enjoy their routines.

 - be content with: ...에 만족하다, 안주하다(be satisfied with, settle for)

One day, they discover that all of their cheese is gone. The two mice are not surprised by what happened because they noticed the dwindling cheese supply.

cf. dwindle away into nothing: 점점 줄어들어서 없어지다

So they leave their home to search for new cheese. On the other hand, the humans, Haw and Hem, deny the situation and do nothing about the consequences. Toward the end of the book, Haw finally finds a new place with cheese by overcoming his fears, but not Hem.

 - toward: ...

The book teaches how to adapt to change quickly.

 - adapt to: ...

cf. adapt oneself to: (환경 따위)에 (노력하여) 익숙해지다, 순응하다

As the book says, "the quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you can enjoy new cheese."

 - let go of: (쥐고 있던 것)을 놓다

cf. let SOMEBODY/SOMETHING go: (손으로 잡고 있던 것을) 놓다, (생각/태도/장악하고 있던 것을) 버리다/포기하다
