Many people think Ferragamo is just a brand name, but it is actually the name of a famous shoe designer. Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 in Florence, Italy. Infatuated with shoes form an early age, he studied shoemaking for a year in Naples.

A few years later he decided to emigrate to the United States, where his brother worked in a cowboy boot factory in Boston. From Boston he headed to California, where he became successful almost overnight.
